When I asked,
they answered without speaking
“Prepare yourself.
Everything is about to change—radically.”
Their actions showed the truth.
Now silence reigns between us.
I no longer write of my baby sister, that old boyfriend or those grandchildren.
Instead, I set down
the history we were meant to learn from,
yet refused.
They showed you who they were—
not once, but again and again—
through the quiet testimony of their actions.
Why, then,
did we choose not to believe them?
